case study - winnifred's champagne
Winnifred's Champagne is a boutique business dedicated to sharing the wines and stories of the small organic growers of Champagne. We jumped at the chance to develop a brand and website for the business, and threw ourselves right into some research (not just drinking glasses of Champagne, I swear!!).
The challenge for Winnifred’s was to communicate the diverse aspects of an unusual business in a way that was inspiring and simple to understand. We wanted to communicate the genuine enthusiasm the founder had for the region of Champagne, and transport the audience there with her. The owner of Winnifred’s also wanted to create a strong sense of consistency for all touch points of her business.
Our brand process always starts with research; we get to know the client’s brand through a brand discovery session, and use this knowledge to determine their core message (or brand proposition) before we come back with a brand strategy and mood boards of our suggested directions.
Our brand strategy determined that the main goal for Winnifred’s was to communicate the passion of it’s founder for the region of Champagne, and create a brand that takes you along on that journey, so our mood boards were inspired by vintage Champagne labels and French bistros.
Once the direction is agreed upon we get to work designing! We drew inspiration from vintage Champagne labels for the logo and created an identity that transports you to a rustic countryside bistro on a sunny day. We then had fun developing a stationery suite, gift certificates and invites featuring luxe copper foils and copper edging to really show off the brand.
We also created a dual language website in both French and English, which allows both the audience in Australia and the small growers in France to learn about the business. We selected imagery to further transport the viewer on that journey to Champagne, and captured some great images of Winnifred’s events.
We have loved working on the branding for this boutique Brisbane business, and watching the brand grow and be applied to every touchpoint of the business. The owner of Winnifred’s is amazing at this… even the pencils at her events match the brand colours! We continue to work with Winnifred’s creating collateral such as menus, place-cards and thank you notes for their events.
